Stile Moderno and Balkan Baroque
Creating a bridge between 17th century music and Balkan traditional melodies.
Two passions come together in this program: rarely played 17th century music from Italy and Croatia, presenting composers such as Tomaso Cecchino and Vinko Jelić, and music from our violinist’s background – Balkan folklore. Trough improvisation and our own arrangements we present traditional songs from Macedonia and Bosnia.
Project is inspired by the Stile Moderno, which stands for innovation and experimentation and originated in Europe at the turn of the 17th century. Seeking for new technique, dissonance and textures trough music of Pandolfi Mealli, Muffat and female composer Isabella Leonarda.
